SmatRotor code is a unique adaptive structure, aeroelastic/aeroacoustic software program that combines distinct aerodynamic, structural and aeroacoustic components in a time-domain solution.
This comprehensive 3D aeroelastic code is capable to accurately capture the aerodynamics of the helicopter fuselage, blade and all adjacent components as well as its structural response (mainly rotor blades).
The Smartrotor code uses Discrete Vortex Method (DVM) – a special type of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) – and has close to 15 years’ history in helicopter-oriented research. The code is “Grid Free”, which makes it efficient by decreasing the computational time and amount of computational power needed (i.e. 30 rev/day w/ 1 CPU).
The Smartrotor code is one of the most advanced helicopter codes in the world and can include fuselage, blades and aeroelasticity of these blades. Unlike all other conventional CFD codes, the Smartrotor code has no numerical dissipation of the wake.
