SRS Inc. has completed the proof-of-concept demonstrations of a new, more compact Active Pitch Link (APL) designated for helicopter rotors. This second generation APL prototype weighs less than the first unit developed by SRS Inc., requires less power and offers the same performance. Videos, pictures and more details coming soon.

President of Smart Rotor Systems Inc. Dr. Daniel Feszty, has delivered an invited lecture at IDGA's 7th Military Helicopter Summit (HELICON 2009) in Huntsville, AL on 19 November 2009. The talk titled "Experimental Demonstrations of the Active Pitch Link for Vibration Reduction on Helicopters" was describing the benefits of the Active Pitch Link for military helicopter operators and was one of the only two non-military presentations at this 3-days venue.

The horizontal rotors that propel a helicopter and give the machine its versatile lift are the same structures that make for such a noisy, vibrating flight. Attempts to control noise and vibration separately have seen some success, but a decrease in one inevitably created an increase in the other—until the smart hybrid active rotor control system (SHARCS) was developed by the Rotorcraft Research Group at Carleton.
